On May 2nd, 2019, University Preparatory Jaguars won their first CIF game for the 2019 year against Mesa Grande Academy.

During the bottom of the first inning, the Jaguars scored 7 points. This was followed with the Mesa Grande Cardinals able to score one point after, 7-1 .

During the bottom of the second inning, Jaguar Xavior Campos (#17) and Travis Madden (#3) ran in two home-runs. Making the score 9-1. The Jaguars also had the other plays Run Bats In, making the score 13-1. The Cardinals didn’t score any points during the top of second inning as the boys gave them a tough defense to combat.

The Jaguars kept on racking up points with 3 in the fourth inning and with 5 in the fifth inning making the score 21-1. During the sixth inning, the Cardinals scored 3 points, while the Jaguars only scored one, 22-4.  Neither team scored during the seventh inning thus making the final score of 22-4 with a win for the Jaguars in the first round of CIF.

“The game was exhilarating. I felt déjà vu because we also won first round in CIF last school year,” said Junior Jaguar Gustavo Meza (#25).
