Around this time of the year, Juniors are preparing themselves for the SAT. A lot of time and effort must go into the SAT as it is an important test. However, for the grade below the Juniors, the class of 2021 is preparing to take the PSAT.

The SAT, also known as the Scholastic Assessment Test, is required to get into college. Leading up to Junior and Senior year, prepping yourself for the SAT is a must in order to get a score that will get you to the college of your dreams. At the school of University Preparatory, the students have the opportunity to take part in the test in years prior to the exam, which is the Practice SAT. The PSAT has the basis of what’s on the SAT to give students an idea of what to prepare for.

Students will study and prepare for this test to give themselves a better chance at a good score. Taking advantage of the PSAT would be beneficial as it is of no cost to the students.

Sophomore Eduardo Nevarez is a student who has a positive thought about the PSAT saying, “I don’t think the PSAT is a waste of time because it is giving me an idea for what to prepare for on the actual SAT. I think this will be a benefit for me in the long run.”

Another student, Sophomore Geovanni Middleton, had similar thoughts saying “I’m going to study for the PSAT, specifically English because I struggle in that subject. I want to see how the English portion is so for the future I can improve on that specific area.”

As the time gets closer and closer, the sophomore teachers are preparing their students for their practice exam that will ready them for the SAT.
