It was Senior night at AAE on January 18, 2019, and the air was electric.

The basketball game was neck to neck with star players on both teams working. Junior Ethan Emick and Senior David Scruggs were hitting some nasty shots and Junior Barry Bai was a juggernaut that kept driving through their team and making crazy layups.

The Knights weren’t pushovers, however. At times they were equal to or ahead in points.

In the second half, Junior Barry Bai was kneed in the thigh while trying to block a layup and was on the floor, crying in agony for close to two minutes.

AAE’s Elijah Guerrero was very aggressive and made many fouls.

The game was action-packed and the audience roared anytime their team made a shot and made cacophonous booing sounds at almost every referee call.

The Jaguars were up 4 in the last 15 seconds but made an unbelievable play. They simply stood in a line while the Knights continued to play and made a three shot.

Almost everyone thought it was disrespectful, especially since it was their senior night, but most of the basketball team said it was strategical. One freshman who wasn’t playing in the game, Julius Scruggs, said that he didn’t even know about the plan, but was just told to get on the court.  He and the team were very glad that they were about to show up the Knights on their own court, with a score of 54 to 55.
