On December 7th, 2018, students involved in Cadet Corps gave a speech in the MPR. The speech was in regards to the fallen soldiers of Pearl Harbor and their actions to protect the nation. Pearl Harbor was a U.S. naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii, that was attacked by Japanese forces back on December 7, 1941. In order for the students to deliver the speech, they set up a one man table with a dining display and two papers, one with the speech and one with the service rankings. This table is known as the “Missing Man Table,” in regards to the fallen soldiers. Kage Blakeney, the cadet who delivered the speech to other students in the MPR, swayed the crowd with his speech. Throughout the speech, there were times when Julien Pineda, a fellow cadet, would ring a bell. The speech lasted for about five minutes and when it was over, the students seemed to be in awe.

December 7th, Pearl Harbor Day is memorable for some of these people because they find it important to celebrate the soldiers who lost their lives in this attack. Most people don’t believe this day is important or recognize it usually because they don’t understand what had happened that day. Cadet Corporal Julien Pineda stated, ‟I think it’s an important day because these fallen soldiers have given their lives to protect us, so I believe remembering them and giving them recognition is the least we can do.” Although it may seem like just another tragedy to some, for others, it’s a day they will never forget and will continue to celebrate in honor of the fallen soldiers.
